Information with photograph: "Mrs. Mazoue's father, captain John Albert Renehan, was the first keeper of this government lighthouse, built on the Manitou Shoales in 21 feet of water. "The Crib" replaced the lightship "Manitou," later renamed "Huron," in 1980.

Photograph of the "Round Top" cottage in the Winter of February 1936. The winter storms began hours after this picture was taken. Snow was four feet deep and Lake Michigan was frozen entirely across from three weeks. It was April 21 before the fish boats from Leland were able to break through the ice and get to open water.
