Leonard Miller was born in Peshawbestown, MI. Attended school in Mount Pleasant, MI. He is a Member of the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians. Mr. Miller relates his experiences while serving in the Navy (in the Pacific) during WW II. He trained as an electrician, but worked for the mail service, primarily in Manila. Round box with lid. Lid has a quilled satin stitch single blossom with leaves and stem surrounded by diamonds on open birch bark ground. Corner and sids of lid are fully quilled, with a band of crossed quills around circumference and sweetgrass edging. Base walls have repeated band of natural crossed quills and bottom band of satin stitch quills. Interior top edge of base is edged with sweetgrass.
