B&W Photo: 3.5"x 3 3/8" . Postcard. Gentleman in Leland School photo is Dayton Selby, who was superintendent of Leland School from 1919 to 1935. He originally came from Scottville or Hart. Moved to Empire to work on the newspaper, "Empire Leader". Met Harry Dumbrille there who encouraged him to finish high school. Dayton graduated from Empire High School, then came to Leland. After Leland he taight two years in Glen Arnor, then retired. Died...

Book, account. Leather bound. Aug. 19, 1862- Nov. 15, 1867. Believed to be the accounts for Cordes and Thies retail operation in Leland. "This record book from Cordes Brothers, was given to Oswald Cordes by Mrs. Mary Ribble in 1941. Mrs. Ribble had been a friend of Peter Cordes. Mrs. Ribble had lived on North Manitou Island, her daughter was Mrs. Hans Sogge who ran the tea room in Leland. Source: Ozzie Cordes
